What it is
Sound healing, in plain terms
You lie down, fully clothed, and listen. Singing bowls are played around you, and in a private session close to your body, in slow sustained tones. There is nothing to do, follow or get right. Most people describe the result as the kind of rest they have trouble reaching on their own.
The mechanism is not mysterious. Steady, low-complexity sound gives the attention one thing to settle on. Breathing slows, muscles let go, and the body gets a stretch of time out of alert mode. That shift from stress response to rest response is the whole aim of the session.
What it is not. Sound healing is a relaxation practice. It does not diagnose or treat any condition, and it sits alongside medical and psychological care, not in place of it.
